Sculptural coffee table designed by Knut Hesterberg for Ronald Schmitt, Germany 1960. This table has a sculpted aluminum brushed base and a very thick hardened glass top. Nicely shaped table in high quality in a very good condition with small traces of usage.

Knut Hesterberg followed his studies in Basel at the Academy of Applied Arts. Hesterberg realized his intuitive ideas in three-dimensional representations, in compact bodies or in rhythmically rotating surfaces. In many of his works, Hesterberg saw statics as a “momentary phase of dynamism”. He wanted to express ‘extreme, structural simplicity’ in his works and make the spectator aware of observation and recognition.
